The trip to Canada

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Hi all,

So last weekend I went to Calgary for a few days to see Dream theatre and Opeth, it was awesome, one of the best concerts that i have ever been too

This week I have been working from 6am until midday 5 days a week, which is perfect for me as it leaves me the day to do what i want, but it also means that i get rather tired at times.

from the hoodoo trail

On monday me and two of the guys i live with went for a hike along the hoodoo trail. it was a really pretty and pieceful trail, there were lots of deer, elk, squirrels and gophers watching us as we walked along the trail.

On Thursday me and a froend decided that we would hike up one of the local mountains 'Sulphur mountain'. it was a beautiful day and i have been wanting to do this hike since arriving in Banff. It took us a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to the top of the mountain, with quite a few stops along the way as it was all uphill, and the mountain was still covered with snow, so walking along the trail was very exhausting as the snow was melting and very slippery. here it a picture of me taking a break in the snow half way up the mountain. it was about 27 degrees and i was hot and needed to cool down.

Here I am at the top of the mountain, the highest mountain i have ever climbed up and well the tallest mountain i have actually ever been up, very exciting.

Here is the pretty view from the top overlooking all of Banff. it was so pretty up there, so worth the hike. we didnt want to hike down the mountain though, so we caught the gondola back down.
Here is a picture of the Bow river taken a 2 minute walk from my house. i thought i would throw it in because it is pretty, and i go there quite alot. its amasing that although you cant really tell in this picture, the waterways around Banff are all a pretty green due to the elements that are dissolved in the water, its really cool.

Hey Karyn!
Lovely lookin' photos, as usual! I'm glad that Opeth & Dream Theatre were \m/AWESOME\m/ hehe.
Anyway, not much else to report. It's all quiet of the Eastern Front, really.
